Tanya Gamby, Ph.D. and Lindsey Shepherd, LBA are co-owners of Autism Services Kaua’i. After years of providing ABA services and serving as consultants to various organizations, Tanya and Lindsey decided to open their dream clinic- affectionately known by the community as Keiki Cottage. Tanya and Lindsey hired the best staff and incorporated the best treatment principles, to create a clinic where children are set up for success and the staff are excited to be there.

  • Tanya Gamby, Ph.D.

    OWNER

    Tanya Gamby, Ph.D., is a Hawaii Licensed Psychologist and Past-President of the Hawaii Psychological Association. The ABA models currently recognized as best practice for children with autism are based on the pioneering work of Dr. Lovaas and his colleagues. Before moving home to Kaua’i, Dr. Gamby was the Associate Clinical Director of the Lovaas Institute (and worked directly with Dr. Lovaas); taught ABA classes at UCLA; and was a supervisor on the Lovaas Multisite Replication Project. Prior to working at the Lovaas Institute, Dr. Gamby was a clinic supervisor for Dr. Tristram Smith’s ABA clinic in Washington. Dr. Smith is widely recognized and respected for his extensive research and clinical contributions in the autism/ABA field. Dr. Gamby has over twenty years of experience doing ABA/early intervention with children with autism and is excited to be providing quality ABA services to the children of Kaua’i.

  • Lindsey Shepherd, LBA

    OWNER, CLINIC DIRECTOR

    Lindsey Shepherd, LBA, is a Hawaii Licensed and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Lindsey graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Eastern Washington University and her Master’s in Autism and Behavior Analysis from Sage Graduate School. Lindsey has been dedicated to helping local families access quality services. She helped create the Kaua’i Autism Task Force, served on the Board for the Autism Society of Hawaii, and continues to provide support for the Kaua’i School District as well as coordinating a number of autism events for our community.

  • Shayna Perkins, BCaBA

    SUPERVISOR

    Shayna Perkins, BCaBA, is a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. Shayna graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Autism Studies and Applied Behavior Analysis from Saint Joseph’s University, and is currently perusing a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Arizona State University. Shayna has worked in school based and clinic settings on Kauai since 2012.

  • Jackie Belding, LBA

    SUPERVISOR

    Jackie Belding, LBA, is a Hawaii Licensed and Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  Jackie graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education with a focus in intellectual disabilities from Brenau University.  She received her Master’s in Special Education with a focus in Autism and developmental disabilities from the University of Texas at Austin.  Jackie started her career as a special education teacher at Koloa Elementary.  She has worked as a behavior analyst in school-based, clinical, and residential settings in Hawaii since 2010.   

  • Jessica McGlaughlin, LBA

    SUPERVISOR

    Jessica McGlaughlin, LBA, is a Hawaii Licensed and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Jessica graduated from the University of Hawaii Manoa with a bachelors degree in psychology and masters degree in special education, she has been using ABA as an educator for the past 8 years, previously teaching general education preschool. Jessica has 3 daughters who keep her involved with a variety of keiki activities here on Kauai.

  • Afton Caycayon, LBA

    SUPERVISOR

    Afton Caycayon, LBA, is a Hawaii Licensed and Board-Certified Behavior Analysis. Afton received her bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in Exercise Science in 2007. She has always had a passion to work with individuals with special needs throughout her life, but it was during her undergraduate schooling that she first began working with children with autism and fell in love. In 2016, Afton began helping children with autism here on Kauai as a Paraprofessional and Behavior Technician. In 2019 she earned her master's degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Behavior Analysis from the University of Hawaii Manoa. Afton and her husband feel fortunate to raise their four children on Kauai and give back to the community they love. 

  • Rona Villaflor, LPN

    HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

    Rona Villaflor, LPN, is a licensed practical nurse and heads our Human Resources team. She was born and raised on Kauai and is an alumna of the University of Hawaii at Manoa and the Kauai Community College. Rona has over 10 years of experience in the medical field with extensive knowledge in the areas of patient care and healthcare administration. Rona is responsible for managing all human resource-related tasks for the ASK clinic and is a valuable resource for staff support and facility maintenance. She also handles our client waitlist and ensures families have the proper documents to begin services with ASK.

Our Staff

ASK employs highly trained Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Behavior Technicians (BTs). We only hire people who love what they do and are amazing with kids. We want to hear our staff and students laughing and singing and playing because that is how the kids learn best and continue to make the amazing gains that they make everyday.
